New York City Personal Trainer

This is what happens during NYC heat waves

New Yorkers had it pretty rough last week. The heat wave was brutal  especially for us in-home personal trainers travelling around Manhattan. Just last week, I was stuck in traffic and was about to run late for a client, so I bolted out of the taxi and sprinted 5 blocks. By the time I got there my shirt was drenched and I kept profusely sweating! While I couldn’t avoid sweating, I should’ve been better prepared to handle this situation. Since I wrote about personal trainers dealing with rain, I thought the “Summer Edition” would be a great secondary post…here it is!

Bond and his ‘Pocket Square’

‘Pocket square’ or ‘handkerchief’, call it what you want but this is a must have for NYC personal trainers during the summer. Manhattan personal trainers may not wear suits but that doesn’t excuse looking sloppy traveling around NYC. You’ll thank me when you’re waiting for the MTA subway in 100 degree weather.

Change of Shirt

Always be PREPARED

Most NYC in-home personal trainers are running around the city with very little time to commute to their clients. This means they may literally be running to their next session. Combine this with 95+ degree weather = you’re going to be drenched.

A change of shirt would best be packed in your bag for these situations. Make sure to have it concealed or wrapped in another bag, just in case you spill anything. You can also use this bag to pack your sweaty shirt, just make sure to take it out at the end of the day, otherwise your bags going to smell pretty bad…

Water Bottle

Klean Kanteen

It’s understood that we need to stay hydrated during the warmer months, especially when running around Manhattan. Make sure to keep yourself cool with this ‘Klean Kantten’ insulated bottle. The current price of $32 maybe a bit steep for most, but trust me, it’s well worth it. This sucker will keep your drink ice cold all day but word of advice, don’t leave your protein or BCAA’s in there too long…it’ll stink up the bottle.

That’s it folks, 3 simple things that can help you through the summer months to feel and look more professional as a NYC personal trainer.
